On February 2 & 3, 2019, Healing Arts and DiscoverYou Events held the first Integrative Mental Health Conference in Rhode Island.  There is an existing paradigm shift where people are looking to move beyond medication and conventional mental health treatment. Many people are seeking more holistic and integrative approaches to healing and well-being. Our intention was to invite people from various disciplines to co-create a wellness community for learning, networking and self-growth.  Within the space of this two day retreat-style conference, there were many integrative workshops to choose from and two dynamic guest speakers: Dr. Achina Stein, DO, DFAPA, ABIHM, IFMCP and Dr. Bridget Casey, ND.

The conference was well attended by people interested in integrative health & medicine, and we were able to offer 14 CEU's. We received excellent feedback from all who attended. We developed a program with almost 40 speakers and presenters. There was an emphasis on trauma-informed practices. We had an Expressive Arts Exhibit demonstrating local artists who use their art and creativity to heal from trauma. We held a closing compassion circle with the intention of allowing more love and compassion into our own hearts and into the world. Most importantly, the conference gave birth to an integrative wellness community that we can all connect with, learn from and work together.  Our intention is to help nurture and grow this community.

Please join us for the next Integrative Mental Health Conference on November 2 & 3, 2019 at the Canonicus Conference Center in Exeter, RI. We are honored to have Dr. Mark Brody, MD and Anne Sinko, LMFT as our guest speakers.  We have been inspired with new ideas and blessed with new facilitators who are ready to present their cutting-edge workshops. With an emphasis on the body/mind connection, we recognize the importance of seeing food as medicine, conscious eating and healing the planet. We will be providing healthy organic meals from Raw Bob’s in East Greenwich during this event.

We look forward to seeing you there!
