Mark Brody, MD

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Brody graduated Medical School 1986 Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons; Residency in Adult Psychiatry, University of Vermont 1986-1989; Child Psychiatry Fellowship, Brown University Affiliated Hospitals 1989-1991; Boston Psychoanalytic Institute 1994-1997; Hahnemann College of Homeopathy 2000-2004, Bowenwork Certification 2010, New England Herbal Academy 2017. Private practice with consultations at Community Mental Health Centers, multiple Psychiatric Hospitals, Residential Centers, and Schools. I converted my practice to an Integrative model gradually beginning in 2000, and now employ Homeopathy, Herbal Medicine,

Nutrition, Functional Medicine and Bowenwork alongside the selective use of more conventional treatments, such as Psychotherapy, Medications, and Physical Therapy.


Ann L. Sinko, LMFT

Keynote Speaker

Ann L. Sinko is a trainer in Internal Family Systems and has been adjunct professor for 25 years at Central Connecticut State University, training marriage and family therapists.  She is in private practice and describes herself as an experiential therapist, using art, sand tray therapy and movement to establish and environment where clients can experience unconditional acceptance. She is passionate about teaching, believing that theory is best integrated through experiential learning. Ann is known for her down to earth style and sense of humor, and she has authored a chapter on Legacy Burdens in, Innovations and Elaborations in Internal Family Systems Therapy. 


Elizabeth Rocchio, MD

Dr Rocchio always had a passion for wellness, but didn’t always have words or an outlet for it. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in psychology with honors. She attended medical school where her passion was natural childbirth. She chose family medicine for its whole person/biopsychosocial model, and emphasis on patient education and prevention. She had a health crisis after finishing an obstetrics fellowship. Eight years of training left her sixty pounds overweight and imbalanced mentally, emotionally, relationally, physically/medically, financially and

spiritually. She has been on a healing journey since 2003 and practices wellness at Integrated Medical Weight Loss.


Victoria Malchar, DC, CCSP, ABAAFM

Victoria Malchar is a board certified Doctor of Chiropractic, Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician, American Board of Anti-Aging and Functional Medicine Health Practitioner. She owns and operates a private practice for patients suffering with chronic conditions; seeking non-pharmaceutical alternatives through functional nutrition, diet, chiropractic and lifestyle changes.

With over 30 years of experience in natural and alternative health Dr. Malchar created and developed a variety of unique and specialized treatments to alleviate pain and restore health. The methods and practices I use are designed to restore neurological function and neuromuscular health.


Carol Garcia-Benoit, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC

Carol is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who spent several years working in primary

care after years of experience working in various settings as a registered nurse. She has been

studying and incorporating Lifestyle Medicine principles into her life since 2011. Currently, she

is preparing to take the exam to become a “Certified Lifestyle Medicine Professional” (the

ACLM’s N.P. Board Certification equivalent) in October 2019. Her work has always revolved

around helping others, and she is very excited to educate, empower, and support others in their

journeys toward optimal health and wellness in her work as a coach and speaker.


Jan Lucier, MSN, RN, HNB-BC, CCAP

Jan is psychiatric nurse and full-time faculty at Elms College. Jan became a holistic nurse

(HNB-BC) in 2005 and also is a Certified Clinical Aromatherapy Practitioner (CCAP). She is

Shamanic Practitioner-graduate of Sandra Ingerman’s 2-year teacher training, Mindfulness

Meditation instructor, chaplain, Drum Circle Facilitator, Integrative Medicine guest

speaker/educator. Jan is the proprietress of Windhorse Holistic Strategies and regularly teaches

and performs shamanic healing sessions. Jan has studied shamanism with Sandra Ingerman,

Alberto Villoldo, Brant Secunda, Mika (an Inuit Shaman), Evelyn Rysdyk, Llyn Roberts, Toby

Christiansen, and Peruvian Indigenous shamans. In addition, Jan specializes in the treatment of

trauma and recently was certified as a facilitator/coach in Teal Swan’s Completion Process


Christopher Kavi Carbone, MA, RDT, C-IAYT, E-RYT

Christopher Kavi Carbone  has worked with holistic approaches to wellness, integrating mindfulness practices with multi-modal expressive arts in a broad range of settings for over 25 years. Christopher leads programs in the Rhode Island area as an Expressive Arts Facilitator, Registered Drama Therapist, Certified Yoga Therapist, and professional performing artist. Christopher also serves as Program Coordinator and faculty member in Salve Regina University’s professional training program in the Expressive, & Creative Arts, with the Holistic Graduate Programs, in the Department of Counseling, Leadership and Expressive Arts, training facilitators in personal and group transformation through the arts.


Maria Sorensen, MA, LCDP

Maria Sorensen had a vision last summer of bringing like-minded professionals together in natural surroundings and decided to organize the Integrative Mental Health Conference. She is an integrative psychotherapist and co-founder of Healing Arts, LLC.  Maria has worked as a clinician specializing in trauma and addiction for the past 30 years. She is an Expressive Arts therapist incorporating spirituality, creativity, art, ceremony and community in her work. Maria is certified in EMDR {eye movement desensitization reprocessing}, Internal Family Systems {IFS} and hypnotherapy.


Alan R. Post, DC

Dr. Alan R. Post is an honors graduate with a Bachelor degree in Human Biology, a

Doctoral degree in Chiropractic Medicine, and a post-graduate certificate in Acupuncture.

In 1993, he was a member of the North American Physician Delegation to China and is a

past president of both the RI State and North–East regional chiropractic associations and

the Advisory Board at the University Bridgeport Chiropractic College.


Dr. Post first introduced the Integrative Medicine Chronic Pain Program to RI Medicaid. The program continues since 2012, expanded, and now is in Maryland Medicaid. Dr. Post has been

meditating since 1976 and is a contributing author to the 2012 landmark book: “Meditation as Medication for the Soul” by best selling author Rajinder Singh; now published in five languages. He lectures regularly throughout R.I. and nationally.

Cynthia F. Davidson​​​​, BA, Author

Cynthia F. Davidson​​​​ is a former CBS News journalist, and long time expatriate who lived and worked in many countries, Cynthia became an executive educator in the corporate world for over 20 years. She specialized in the human side of globalization: how to screen, select and
train high performing managers for global careers. In 1996 she developed the Wisdom
Wheel as an interfaith, multi-culturally appropriate method for application in multiple
settings. She has used it in her work in the mental health field too, as an expressive arts
facilitator in the prison forensic unit, where poetry, music, art were incorporated with the
Wisdom Wheel’s 36 Universal Laws as ‘themes of the month.’ A ceremonial leader
trained by Mi’kmaq elders in New Brunswick Canada, she also conducts monthly
community sweat lodges here in Rhode Island for the past twenty years.

Cynthia has a BA from NYU, is working on Masters in Holistic Leadership at Salve Regina and has recently published memoir ‘The Importance of Paris’.


Cathy Alvarez MA, RN, CNML, HNB-BC

Cathy Alvarez is an Education Specialist at Yale New Haven Hospital. She has 18 years of

nursing experience, and is certified as a Nurse Manager and Leader, and Holistic Nurse.

Cathy has been designing and implementing holistic nursing education programs that focus on self-care, mindfulness, and resiliency for the past eight years. In addition to her role at Yale,

Cathy is a nurse educator for the American Holistic Nurses Association Integrative Healing

Arts Program (IHAP) and serves as a faculty advisor for the Birch Tree Center for Healthcare

Transformation. She has presented her work locally and nationally to promote health and

wellness among healthcare providers.


Pamela Mulligan BSN, RN, RYT-500

Pam Mulligan is a critical care nurse who transitioned to Holistic Nursing after experiencing

symptoms of burnout. She is the Co-Founder of Replenish Mind Body Spirit with a vision to

cultivate health and optimize resilience through an integrative approach to wellness. Pam

applies Jean Watson’s Caring Science theory to the Integrative Health and Wellness Coach

training she received at Duke University to evoke transformation and facilitate ways to restore

clarity, connection and compassion for self and others. She has successfully implemented

mindfulness-based interventions for nurses, physicians and patients at Mayo Clinic Arizona

and Yale New Haven Hospital.


Judith A. Swack, Ph.D., MPNLP, C. Ht.

Dr. Judith A. Swack originator of Healing from the Body Level Up TM methodology, is a

Biochemist/Immunologist, Master NLP Practitioner, Certified Hypnotherapist, Mind/Body

Healer, visionary and leader in the field of Energy Psychology. Dr. Swack has presented

her dramatic results on national television and at international conferences. Dr. Swack is

a best-selling author and recipient of the 2015 ACEP award for major contribution to the

field of Energy Psychology. She offers trainings both nationally and abroad. Dr. Swack

has a private practice in Needham, MA. She and her associates offer individual client

sessions in person, by Skype or by telephone.


John Koenig, MA, BCH, Author

John Koenig is a Board Certified Hypnotist and Instructor with the National Guild of Hypnotists

who has helped Rhode Islanders make important personal changes since 1998. He holds a

BA (Psychology) from Hofstra University and a MA (Literature) from the National University of

Ireland, Dublin. His hypnotic video and audio programs have been featured on both NBC and

ABC National News. John is the co-author of THE HYPNOTIC COACH: Create a Life You Love by Combining Hypnosis with Personal Coaching.


Sherri Snyder, MA, LMHC

Sherri Snyder has been providing psychotherapy for 30 years in a wide variety of settings including in-patient psychiatric, domestic violence programs, out-patient clinics and in private practice the last 18 years. She specializes in eating disorders, anxiety/OCD, and trauma recovery. She works with individuals as young as three up to age 65 assisting people to evolve, overcome challenges and be the most effective person they can be. She has integrated art therapy, play therapy, creative writing, and in the last four years has added yoga and mindfulness as an integrative approach to change. In 2000, Sherri was chosen by the State of Massachusetts as a lead trainer in Domestic Violence, providing day-long trainings state-wide. Sherri also taught at Lesley University’s Graduate Program for 16 years teaching courses such as: Ethics and Legal Issues in Mental Health and Integrating Expressive Therapies approaches into Trauma Recovery, and Group Therapy. She has also presented in corporate settings over the past 20 years at companies such as Reebok, National Grid, and Boston Logan Airport. In addition, Sherri has authored several articles for publications. She brings humor, practical techniques and enthusiasm to every training.


Vandana Pitke, BHMS MS CCH

Vandana Pitke is a registered certified homeopath . Certified by the council of homeopathy

in the USA. She is registered member of North American Society of Homeopaths (RsHOM- N/A). Her graduation in Homeopathy (BHMS) is from Pune University, one of the prestigious universities in India. BHMS is a five and half years medical degree program in Homeopathy. She received her masters in psychological counseling from IBMS, India. 


Vandana is a regular contributor to holistic health magazine; Natural awakenings Rhode Island

and Rhode Island Wellness guide.


As an educator she teaches many classes on Homeopathy and other modalities she commonly

uses in her practice. She runs a parents support group who use homeopathy for self prescriptions at home. She also leads Action for Happiness group and Mindfulness Meditation program.


Melissa DaSilva, LICSW, Author

Melissa Dasilva is a licensed social worker and the owner of East Coast Mental

Wellness. Melissa’s helps other therapists get unstuck in their lives through the use of

coaching and therapeutic techniques. She wants all therapist to live the life they deserve

and wrote;The Profitable Private Practice: How to Start, Run and Grow a Therapy

Practice. Melissa is the creator and host of the successful LGBTQ+ podcast Pride

Connections and Chit Chat with a Therapist.  She has been featured on many website

blogs and a guest on several international podcasts.


Mara Prentice, DC

Mara Prentice  has a comprehensive background in the physical and energetic integration of the body. Mara developed her skills over 40 years through the study and practice of various disciplines including Chiropractic, Therapeutic Massage, Tai Chi, Qigong, and Jin Shin Jyutsu. She is a Jin Shin Jyutsu Practitioner and teaches Jin Shin Jyutsu Self-Care classes, Tai Chi, and Qigong.


Jude Rittenhouse, MA Counseling, NKH, Writer, Teacher

Jude Rittenhouse received a Master’s Degree in Holistic Counseling, completed the intensive

four-year training to become a Nondual Kabbalistic Healer (NKH), and has extensive additional

training in The Constellation Approach, Nondual work, and in trauma and attachment, including Diane Poole Heller’s “Attachment and Trauma Mastery” program, plus numerous trauma trainings by the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine

(NICABM). She also has twenty-five+ years of experience as an expressive arts teacher and

facilitator. Her poems, creative non-fiction, and short stories have won awards and have been

published in literary magazines and anthologies.


Elisabeth Brown, Psy.D

Elisabeth Brown is a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and families is evidence-based and applicable to most clients, as it focuses on attachment need and attachment cycles that can undermine healthy relationships. In so doing, dysfunctional cycles are replaced with healthy, fulfilling ones. In addition, she has experience with Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming (EMDR) and utilize it in the treatment of trauma, anxiety and depression. I have a special affinity for working with women, adolescents, and couples.


Alan Groveman, Ph.D

Alan Groveman is a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT) and supervisor. EFT is a systematic and structured approach that recognizes the primacy of emotions in organizing key interactional patterns. I served as a visiting professor at the graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology – Rutgers University. In 1997, I served as the President of the New Jersey PsychologicalAssociation and currently am the Chair of the NJ Board of Psychological Examiners.

Luke DeStefano, Kambo Practitioner

Luke DeStefano is a faithful servant to the medicine of Kambo and has over 10 years of professional experience working in different facets of the healing arts and natural medicine. It was through his own journey of self-healing that brought him to working intimately with Ayahuasca, apprenticing with Shamanic practitioners who eventually introduced him to Kambo. Experiencing the profound healings of this medicine first-hand led Luke to begin introducing close friends and family members to Kambo who were battling severe autoimmune issues. After witnessing the immense progress Kambo provided them, he was sure that offering Kambo would be a lifelong path. In 2017 He began training with the IAKP, a non-profit organization that works directly with the indigenous Amazonian tribes who ethnically and sustainably harvest this medicine. Luke now lives in Rhode Island and holds healing ceremonies in and around New England.


Lissa Wheeler, PhD, LMT, IMT.C, Author

Lissa Wheeler is a certified practitioner of Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT) and Self Regulation Therapy (SRT), with a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and a PhD in IMT.  Lissa is certified in Muscular Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy, and Shiatsu and completed a four-year training in Bioenergetic Analysis, which is a body-centered psychotherapy. She spent many years at the Upledger Institute International studying Visceral Manipulation, Lymphatic Drainage, Mechanical Link, and Somato-Emotional Release.

She became an instructor of IMT and has taught IMT courses and facilitated IMT clinics throughout the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Germany, Holland, and Israel. Lissa has published a book about healing from trauma called Becoming Resilient: Heal the Physical Impact of Emotional Trauma: A Guide for Bodyworkers.


Ayelet Connell-Giammatteo, PhD, PT, IMT,C

Dr. Ayelet Connell-Giammatteo  is the President and Founder of Manual Therapy Seminars. She is also the Owner of  Ayelet Connell Wellness LLC . Ayelet is a Physical Therapist and Certified Integrative Manual Therapist. She has been practicing in the field of IMT for over 15 years. Ayelet received her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from The University of Hartford in Connecticut. She received her Doctoral Degree from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio, focusing in neuropediatrics, with a concentration in autism.

Some of Ayelet’s Doctoral research involved a unique charter elementary school, Soaring Heights, in inner city Jersey City, New Jersey. During this research, she investigated the efficacy of Integrative Manual Therapy on young children that presented with challenges in learning, socialization, and behavior. 


In addition to her IMT expertise, Ayelet is a graduate of the Institute of Functional Medicine’s

program “Applying Functional Medicine into Clinical Practice” focusing on nutritional wellness. She has written many articles on the subjects of IMT, healthy living, natural parenting, and nutritional wellness. Ayelet was Dean of the Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy (CSIMT) for multiple years. She has taught courses in Integrative Manual Therapy nationally and internationally for over 15 years. Ayelet is also a local of this community and has

been living in the Greater Hartford area for many years, where she integrates a healthy lifestyle at home with her wonderful family.

Jonathan Glass - M.Ac, (Masters in Acupuncture),  Ayurvedic Practitioner

Jonathan Glass, M.Ac, is a Master Acupuncturist, Ayurvedic Practitioner, Herbalist and Natural Health Educator. He’s the author of the Total Life Cleanse and the co-creator of the Total Life Cleanse program. Jonathan served on the faculty of the New England School of Acupuncture and The Dharma Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda. He has facilitated individual and group-supported, transformational cleanse programs, for over twenty years. Jonathan has maintained a thriving private practice since 1992 when he co-founded the Healing Essence Center with his wife Katherine, in Concord, Massachusetts.


Sally Davidson, RN, MS, ANP-BC, IFMCP

Sally Davidson is co-owner of Functional Mind LLC - a functional medicine practice in Riverside, RI. She has been a Nurse Practitioner for 18 years with a background in Primary Care, Neurology, and Gastroenterology. She is the only Nurse Practitioner registered in Rhode Island. She received both her Bachelor and Master’s degrees from Northeastern University. She lives in Riverside, RI with her husband. Sally has a passion for good food and creating wonderful meals for her family and friends.


Alexandra Ellis, MA, CAGS Expressive Arts, RYT200 Yin and Mindfulness Specialization

Alexa Iya Soro serves the community as a Licensure-track Holistic Mental Health Counselor and Psychedelic integration Life Coach with a specialty CAGS in Expressive Arts and Eco-therapy. Her passion and life’s purpose is to catalyze psycho-spiritual evolution; helping people find their heart-song and discover their unique path to wholeness.


Alexa has integrated trainings in 5 Element informed Yin Yoga, practical animism training with Daniel Foor and had facilitated Ceremonies with Cacao and plant medicines as well as Kambo for the Rhode Island Community.  Alexa is located in Rhode Island and sessions are available in person or online.


Laura Gostin, MA, Adjunct Instructor

Laura Gostin is an adjunct instructor, who has been teaching various courses within the field of

Communication Studies at the University of Rhode Island and Bristol Community College for the

past thirteen years. Ms. Gostin’s background spans the fields of Communication Studies, Art,

Psychology and Women’s Studies. She received a BA in Psychology and a MA in

Communication Studies with a focus on Intercultural & Organizational Communication from URI

and is currently enrolled in the Expressive Creative Arts program at Salve Regina University. Her strong commitment to healing, personal development, & spiritual growth took her on a

holistic healing journey and in 2017 she become a Quantum Reiki Master.


Lisa Bowker, MSW

Lisa Bowker is a psychotherapist in Providence who is passionate about helping women tend to their hearts and embark on the courageous journey of inner transformation.  She uses an innovative holistic approach, Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT), to create sustainable change for clients facing difficult to treat issues including complex PTSD, personality disorders, attachment wounds and chronic health concerns. As an AIT Teacher, Lisa offers AIT Basics to healing professionals who want to learn a powerful depth method of psychotherapy that integrates energetic trauma treatment with spiritual development.


Susanna Massari, End-of-Life Doula and LMT

Susanna Massari is a Licensed Massage Therapist, certified End-of-Life Doula, and a

certified Advance Care Planner. She encourages people to have a more conscious

relationship with death so we may move from a place of fear to a place where death becomes

an integral part of our life celebration. Her training also includes pregnancy and infant loss,

grief, and palliative and hospice massage. Susanna’s focus is on the needs of the dying and

their loved ones, helping to create a deeper and more meaningful death by adding an extra

layer of care to all involved in one’s dying process.


Steve Cook, MA

Steve has a masters degree in anthropology, with a focus on cultural ecology and an associates

degree in studio Arts. He has more than three decades of experience leading cultural arts and

ethnobotany workshops, two of those as Curator of the region's largest Native American Museum.


In addition he has explored the Natural world both alone and with experienced guidance on two

continents and in four countries.


Karendayal Devi, LMT, ERYT-500 

Karendayal Devi has been providing mind, body soul care with her practical east meets west vibe for the past 26 years professionally as a teacher, therapist, healer, and life’s river guide. She is a Registered Ayurvedic Health Counselor, Registered Yoga Teacher, Licensed Massage Therapist, Master Energy Healer, and has a Bachelor Of Divinity in Spiritual Counseling & Metaphysical Healing.

Catherine Hanson, RN, LMHC, CHT

Catherine has enjoyed working as a psychiatric nurse at a community mental health center, South Shore/Gateway. Working with this population inspired pursuing a master's degree, which she obtained from Salve Regina in the Holistic Counseling program in 2012. She has been working in her own private practice since 2015, utilizing her experience as a nurse in combination with psychotherapy and hypnotherapy. Integrative healing has always been a passion of hers as evidenced by her eclectic interests which she also integrates into her practice including herbal medicine, aromatherapy, yoga, nutrition, and shamanism.  

Yumin Tan-Gutierrez, LICSW, Psychotherapist

Yumin Tan has a private practice in Providence, RI. She takes an integrated approach to her practice by combining techniques from psychology, Evolutionary Astrology, and Eastern philosophies. She has extensive training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Internal Family System (IFS). Yumin is a certified yoga and meditation instructor and draws from mindfulness practices to foster healing in both body and mind. In addition, she is a Certified Evolutionary Astrologer. She studied for more than a decade with numerous teachers including an apprenticeship under Steven Forrest.

Brandi S. Gifford, MA, LMHC

Brandi S. Gifford is a licensed mental health counselor and educator in the field of body-mind

therapies and their impact on symptoms and healing. She is trained in EMDR and body-mind

therapies. She teaches in the Holistic Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Salve

Regina University and provides trainings and presentations about trauma and trauma treatment, body-mind skills to other clinicians at institutions like Butler Hospital and topics like self-care, resiliency, and forgiveness to the public.

Lori Maher, ABT, RYT, CYT

Lori Maher graduated from Acupressure Therapy Institute in 2004 which began her journey into alternative health. Since then she has completed training and certification in Reiki,  Asian Bodywork Therapy, and Integrative Yoga Therapy. She is fascinated with the ability of the body to heal itself. Lori specializes in pain relief and pain management, digestive issues, anxiety and depression, trauma related symptoms, and fatigue. She also created her own yoga style that integrates Chinese medicine and therapeutic yoga principles. Lori bring tools from these perspectives to the Anxiety Reduction Program. Lori brings light and radiance to every class and workshop.

Susan Lataille, CHC

Susan Lataille is the owner and creator of DiscoverYou Events LLC who's mission is to help the small business owners connect with potential customers and clients. She has been creating and producing events for almost 10 years including the DiscoverYou Wellness Expo. 


Susan has had a passion for the holistic and integrative modalities for the past 15 years studying many of them over the years. She is a Certified Health Coach, Reiki Master, Full Wave Breath Facilitator, Akashic Records Consultant and more. Being part of the holistic world has given her the tools to use as she had to process her own trauma. She also contributes her outlook on life to her many teachers along the way. 

Nicole Benisch, Certified Yoga Instructor & Herbalist 

Nicole Benisch is the founder of Light Spirit Essentials, a holistic healing practice based in Providence, RI. As a Certified Yoga Instructor, Herbalist, Aromatherapy Educator, and Reiki Practitioner, Nicole knows how to create the space and provide the tools necessary for you to fall in love with the feeling of being your own health advocate. Also a student of Peruvian Shamanism for over 8 years, Nicole has a deep understanding of sound as medicine that she has cultivated through receiving and sharing sacred plant songs, known as Icaros, in ceremony. Sound healing features prominently in her Restorative Yoga and Reiki sessions as well, where she uses her crystal alchemy singing bowls, drumming, and vocals to enhance and uplift.
